It's so surreal, Michael Jackson is just one of those names that people use in passing. It's hard to go somewhere where he isn't known. As his name has spread, so does the word of his death. And this morning it was hard to find anyone who didn't know about his passing away. Strangely enough it was also hard to find anyone my age who was genuinely upset about it like me. I suppose it's hard for our generation because we haven't grown up with his music in the charts like many of the adults around, however I love Michael Jackson's music and can remember teaching myself to moonwalk and everything.
Google actually went down for a while because they were being flooded by people trying to confirm it, if you look at google trends the most searched one recently is 'michael jackson died' and in the 'hotness' scale it's under Volcanic. Not surprised really. Google thought they were under attack.
There was a lot of controversy surrounding Michael Jackson, what with the accusations of paedophilia and his massive debts. He died deeply in debt. He was said to have had a "billionaire spending habit for only a millionaire's spending budget" which, even though he was at a lack of money right up until his death, is what I think is the best life. He did what he wanted and wasn't afraid of the consequences.
But at the same time, there are many who believe that he was never really happy. He and his siblings were beaten by their father as children and Jacko had so many bumps in his life, that amount of fame would drive anyone crazy. He lost his childhood, taken straight to the walk of fame at such a young age, beaten by his father.
He was more than an amazing entertainer, he was a father and an icon for so many all over the world. R.I.P The King of Pop. You will be missed greatly. My heart goes out to his family.
PS. First Mark Speight, then Steve Irwin, then Heath Leger, now this? My bets are on either Britney Spears or Madonna next. Maybe Stephen Fry... they just keep getting more and more tragic. This is so upsetting. Stop dying people! Why can they not just live forever like their songs??
There's never going to be an intermission, but there'll always be a closing night.

That was so awesome I think the image has been permanently burnt into my corneas.
Someone on facebook said this: "Michael Jackson did manage to whisper a brief message to the paramedics on his way into the hospital... "put me in the children's ward please""

This statement is not true.
Stephen Fry dying would be the most tragic thing ever, but he will probably die before we do. Grrr, I hate knowing these things!
